Accountant

About the role

Our client, a retail business located on Kimathi Street in Nairobi CBD, is looking for a qualified and detail‑oriented Accountant. The role involves supporting daily financial operations, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with reporting and reconciliations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting and financial records, recording daily sales, purchases, expenses and other transactions.
• Prepare invoices, receipts, payment records and perform cash and bank reconciliations.
• Monitor accounts payable and receivable, support stock and inventory reconciliation, and assist with statutory compliance.
• Help prepare financial reports, management accounts and ensure proper filing of financial documentation.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a retail environment.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, high attention to detail and integrity.
• Good organisational, time‑management and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software.
