Senior Grants and Compliance Officer

About the role

The Senior Grants and Compliance Officer will support the DREEM Phase II initiative, a five‑year programme aimed at improving work and education outcomes for refugee, displaced and host‑community youth across Africa. Reporting to senior leadership at World University Service of Canada (WUSC), the officer will ensure that all grant activities are managed in line with donor requirements and organisational policies.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the full lifecycle of grants allocated to the DREEM initiative, from award to close‑out.
• Monitor financial and programmatic compliance of partner organisations, including Refugee‑Led Organizations (RLOs).
• Prepare and submit regular financial and narrative reports to donors and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the RLO Opportunity Fund team to track disbursements and assess impact.
• Provide guidance to partners on grant‑related policies, procedures and best practices.

Required profile

• University degree in finance, international development, public administration or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in grant management and compliance within the nonprofit or international development sector.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse, multicultural teams and external partners.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail.

Required skills

• Grant management software (e.g., Fluxx, Grantium) or equivalent.
• Financial reporting and budgeting.
• Knowledge of donor compliance standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
