Accountant – Finance & Accounting Role

About the role

We are looking for a diligent Accountant to join our finance team in Nairobi. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, supporting budgeting processes and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accounting records, record transactions, prepare vouchers and receipts, and manage cashbook and petty cash.
• Reconcile bank accounts and process supplier payments while verifying supporting documents.
• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual budgets, monitor departmental spending and produce variance reports.
• Prepare monthly financial reports, quarterly statements and annual accounts, and support external auditors.
• Process staff salaries, calculate statutory deductions (PAYE, NSSF, NHIF/SHIF), and maintain payroll records.
• Maintain fixed asset register, conduct asset verification and monitor depreciation schedules.
• Ensure proper payment authorisation, segregation of duties and safeguard financial records.
• Provide financial analysis and advise management on financial matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• CPA (K) or ACCA qualification (or in progress).
• 3–5 years of experience in accounting or financial management.
• Experience with payroll processing and statutory compliance reporting.

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage.
• Advanced MS Excel skills.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and tax compliance.
