Automation Engineering Lead – AI & Automation Strategy

About the role

One Acre Fund’s Kenya program, operating under the Tupande brand, is looking for an exceptional AI and automation engineering leader. You will shape the AI strategy, build a high‑impact automation capability, and help scale farmer impact through hands‑on engineering and strategic partnership.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive Tupande’s AI, automation, and engineering strategy.
• Partner with senior leadership to align technology initiatives with strategic priorities.
• Translate business needs into a clear engineering roadmap and evaluate emerging technologies.
• Lead design and delivery of scalable AI, automation, integration, and software solutions.
• Guide solution architecture, ensuring speed, quality, sustainability, and scalability.
• Conduct architecture, solution, and technical quality reviews.
• Establish integration standards across enterprise systems, AI platforms, middleware, APIs, and third‑party technologies.
• Oversee delivery, adoption, and performance of the automation portfolio.
• Build, coach, and strengthen the AI & automation engineering capability.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading AI and automation engineering teams.
• Strong strategic thinking with ability to partner with senior business leaders.
• Track record of translating business objectives into technical roadmaps.
• Excellent communication skills to act as a thought partner on innovation priorities.
