Business Development Executive – Bancassurance (Retail)

About the role

The Business Development Executive will drive growth of retail life insurance through the bancassurance channel. You will build strong relationships with bank partners, support branch teams and ensure premium production targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Drive retail life insurance sales across assigned bank branches, meeting monthly, quarterly and annual premium and policy issuance targets.
• Identify sales opportunities within the bank’s customer base, conduct financial needs analysis and recommend suitable life insurance solutions.
• Build and maintain relationships with branch managers, relationship managers, personal bankers and other key stakeholders.
• Develop and execute branch‑specific sales plans, manage referral pipelines and analyse performance to improve conversion rates.
• Train, coach and support bank staff on insurance products, sales techniques, underwriting requirements and regulatory updates.
• Manage the end‑to‑end customer journey, including quotations, onboarding, underwriting, policy issuance, renewals, retention and complaint resolution.
• Prepare accurate sales forecasts and performance reports while ensuring compliance with IRA, AML, KYC and data‑protection regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Marketing or a related business discipline.
• Progress towards a Diploma in Insurance (ACII or AIIK) – at least three papers or equivalent.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in life insurance sales within the bancassurance channel and relationship management.
• Strong sales, business development and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
• Sound understanding of life insurance products and bancassurance operations.
• Excellent presentation, negotiation and influencing skills.
• Analytical and reporting capability with a customer‑centric mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
