Business Development Officer – Healthcare

About the role

The Business Development Officer will identify, develop and convert business opportunities, manage strategic partner relationships and support commercial initiatives across The Karen Hospital and its branch network, contributing to revenue growth and strategic positioning in Kenya and East Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and convert business opportunities with insurers, corporates, healthcare facilities and other strategic partners.
• Build and manage partner relationships, coordinate follow‑ups and support partnership agreements, MOUs and SLAs.
• Support branch business development by identifying local opportunities and strengthening referral networks.
• Plan and participate in community engagements, medical camps, health talks, exhibitions and outreach activities.
• Collaborate with BD, PR & Communications and Client Experience teams to align partner engagement and patient experience.
• Conduct market and competitor research to identify healthcare trends and service demand.
• Prepare business proposals, partnership presentations and reports; track opportunities and outcomes using measurable indicators.
• Analyse business development data to identify growth opportunities and inform data‑driven decisions.

Required profile

• At least four (4) years of business development experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment.
• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Marketing or a related field from a recognized institution.

Required skills

• Strong relationship management, communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
• Understanding of Kenya and East Africa’s healthcare landscape, including insurers, corporate clients and referral networks.
• Commercial awareness of healthcare costing, pricing and profitability.
• Analytical, research, coordination and reporting skills with ability to turn data into actionable insights.
• Self‑driven, target‑oriented and accountable, able to work independently and collaboratively.
