Chief Accountant – Finance Leadership Role

About the role

The Chief Accountant will lead the finance function for Sistema.bio in Nairobi, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with Kenyan regulations and IFRS. This senior position shapes accounting strategy, drives process improvements and builds a high‑performing finance team in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and monitor cash flow, manage receivables, payables and inventory controls in Odoo.
• Oversee tax obligations, prepare and submit returns according to the KRA calendar and handle tax audits.
• Manage day‑to‑day accounting in line with IFRS, lead statutory audits and safeguard company assets.
• Maintain Odoo data integrity, lead automation projects to reduce transaction times and document processes for training.
• Coach, mentor and evaluate the accounting team, supporting individual development plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CPA‑K or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in finance and accounting, including ledger and cash‑flow management, preferably in a multinational setting.
• Proven leadership and team‑management abilities.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with ERP systems, especially Odoo.
• Strong focus on regulatory compliance and tax reporting.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.
