County Finance Assistant – Busia & Siaya Counties

About the role

The County Finance Assistant will support the Finance and Administration Manager in collecting and processing payment information for sub‑county spraying staff in Busia and Siaya counties. This short‑term position ensures proper accounting procedures, internal controls, and timely payroll and vendor payments for malaria vector control and HIV/AIDS service delivery projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a database of all field staff involved in county spraying activities.
• Facilitate completion and submission of daily work logs by site coordinators and supervisors.
• Review employee data for accuracy, contract compliance, and timely payroll processing.
• Resolve payroll or vendor payment issues and ensure all temporary staff have valid contracts.
• Supervise sub‑county finance assistants, providing tools and support needed for effective performance.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and deliver high‑level customer service to staff and external vendors.

Required profile

• Professional training in accounting/finance (certificate level) with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Ability to work six days a week (Monday‑Saturday) and reside within the county of jurisdiction.
• Proficiency in English and Kiswahili.
• Strong organizational skills, high accuracy, and ability to multitask.

Required skills

• Knowledge of payroll processing and reporting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to use spreadsheets and other accounting software.
• Computer literacy and strong numeracy.
