Customer Growth Director – Sub‑Saharan Africa

About the role

As the Customer Growth Director SSA at Mars Snacking, you will lead the customer growth agenda across Sub‑Saharan Africa by turning deep shopper and customer insights into scalable commercial strategies. In this senior leadership role you will champion initiatives that improve availability, conversion and ROI across Traditional Trade, Modern Trade and D‑Commerce channels.

Key responsibilities

• Guide and mentor the Customer Growth Team to develop profitable, sustainable growth plans for the region.
• Drive execution of Intelligent Perfect Store, Perfect Digital Store and Transaction Zone programs to boost in‑store conversion and digital performance.
• Translate shopper, channel and market insights into high‑impact category and display solutions in partnership with sales and service teams.
• Oversee customer, display and shopper‑marketing budgets across SSA, ensuring rigorous evaluation and optimal ROI.
• Collaborate with Growth, Marketing and Demand Planning functions to feed market intelligence into innovation, forecasting and brand strategies.

Required profile

• 15‑20+ years of progressive FMCG commercial leadership experience with a proven sales and category strategy track record.
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced business degree strongly preferred.
• Deep understanding of Sub‑Saharan markets and hands‑on expertise in Traditional Trade, Modern Trade and emerging D‑Commerce routes.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and develop high‑performing, inclusive teams.
