Head of Corporate Sales (General Business)

About the role

The role holder will direct, coordinate and grow the corporate business portfolio, identifying and converting new opportunities, enhancing customer retention, strengthening intermediary relationships, and driving sustainable revenue growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement sales, distribution and business development strategies aligned with overall business objectives and budgeted targets.
• Drive new business acquisition, customer retention and portfolio growth through brokers, intermediaries and direct channels, while identifying cross‑selling opportunities.
• Lead, manage and coach the corporate sales team, setting targets, monitoring performance and ensuring productivity and staff retention.
• Continuously improve sales processes, policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, competitors and other key stakeholders to strengthen market position.
• Monitor the sales pipeline, business leads and market opportunities using research and business intelligence to convert leads into sales.
• Take ownership of performance and profitability by tracking revenue, productivity, retention, costs and budget adherence.
• Lead the annual sales budgeting and planning process to support sustainable growth.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Marketing or a related business discipline.
• Diploma in Insurance (ACII or AIIK) and membership of CII or IIK.
• At least 10 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a minimum of 5 years in senior management.
• Strong strategic and commercial acumen, insurance and financial expertise, and business analytics capability.
• Proven leadership and people‑management skills, with a focus on innovation, digital agility and stakeholder influence.
