IT Intern – Technical Support

About the role

This full‑time, on‑site internship supports BM Security’s IT department in Nairobi. You will assist staff with hardware, software and network issues while gaining hands‑on experience in system maintenance and cyber‑security practices.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑level technical support for hardware, software, network and system problems.
• Assist in installation, configuration and maintenance of computers, operating systems and applications.
• Support network administration tasks such as connectivity troubleshooting and user account management.
• Maintain IT inventory, asset registers and equipment records.
• Perform routine system checks and report abnormalities or security concerns.
• Help with data backup, recovery and cyber‑security initiatives.
• Set up and maintain printers, scanners, CCTV, biometric devices and other ICT peripherals.
• Document ICT procedures, user guides and technical reports.
• Participate in software testing, upgrades and digital transformation projects as assigned.

Required profile

• Currently studying or holding a Diploma/degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Networking or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.

Required skills

• Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Networking concepts (LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, Wi‑Fi, routers, switches).
• Microsoft Office Suite.
• Database and data‑management basics.
• Software installation and updates.
• Cyber‑security best practices.
• IT support/help‑desk processes.
• Cloud technologies and collaboration tools.
• Familiarity with CCTV, biometric systems, printers and other IT peripherals.
