Lead, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a Lead, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) to provide senior technical leadership and oversee global MHPSS support to country offices. Reporting to the Head, Learn Breakthrough, the role manages a team of advisors and ensures high‑quality, context‑appropriate assistance across humanitarian, nexus and development programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead provision of technical support to country offices, maintaining high standards and adapting strategies to evolving needs.
• Line‑manage a team of technical experts, fostering an inclusive environment and promoting professional development.
• Ensure rapid‑onset emergency technical support and coordinate resources across multiple awards.
• Deputise for the Head, Learn Breakthrough, contributing to strategic planning and decision‑making.
• Advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion within programmes and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to innovate sector solutions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience designing, implementing and evaluating humanitarian and development programmes in complex contexts.
• Proven technical expertise in MHPSS interventions and ability to adjust strategies to changing priorities.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills, with experience overseeing global teams and deputising for senior leaders.
• Analytical ability to interpret complex data and translate findings into actionable improvements.
• Demonstrated capacity to build partner capacity, deliver training and mentor staff.
• Successful track record in developing high‑quality donor proposals and strategic plans.
• Experience ensuring compliance with donor requirements and organisational policies.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 20 % and work in challenging environments.
