Network Technician Level 2 (CCNA or equivalent)

About the role

Brilliant Computers is looking for a freelance Network Technician Level 2 based in Nairobi. The role covers troubleshooting, operating, repairing and maintaining medium-complexity network equipment, with strong communication and customer service skills.

Key responsibilities

• Handle low-complexity installs, moves, repairs, uninstalls, site surveys, triage and vendor escorts
• Rack and stack equipment and install, swap out, install, terminate, label and test cabling related to telecom circuit demarcation extensions
• Read blueprints and drawings; place, connect and activate telephone devices
• Lift equipment weighing over 45 lbs and perform work professionally
• Train end users and other technicians on equipment
• Provide break-fix support for certified equipment

Required profile

• 5-9 years of experience in network support or a similar role
• Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS and DHCP
• Experience with Cisco or similar networking equipment
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools and ticketing systems
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA or CompTIA Network+ are an advantage
• Basic understanding of Windows server environments and Active Directory is an advantage

• Terminal emulator (Putty, TeraTerm or Poderosa recommended)
• Serial port (built-in or USB adapter)
• Teams or Webex for connection with the customer network NOC if required
• Engineering tool kit
• OEM-specific training and certification for the products you will work on
