Sales Development Representative – FX & Global Payments
Ebury · Nairobi
Job description
About the role
Ebury, a fintech provider of business accounts, hedging and financing solutions, is hiring a Sales Development Representative in Nairobi for a 6-month fixed-term contract. The role is office-based and covers the East African market remotely, mainly by phone, email and LinkedIn. It is a prospecting and appointment-setting position: success is measured by the quality and volume of meetings booked for Key Account Directors, not by deals closed. It is described as an ideal first step into a sales career, with a clear path to Business Developer.
Key responsibilities
- Research and target East African businesses that trade internationally (importers, exporters, distributors, manufacturers) and build prospect lists.
- Run outbound outreach by phone, email, LinkedIn and approved channels to reach finance directors, CFOs, business owners and treasury contacts.
- Qualify interest using an agreed framework covering company profile, international payment activity and decision-makers.
- Book and hand over meetings with clear notes so Key Account Directors arrive fully briefed.
- Keep the CRM accurate by logging activity, contacts and outcomes promptly.
- Share market insight on sectors, objections and competitor activity to help shape the Tanzania go-to-market approach.
- Follow scripts, approved materials and compliance guidance.
Required profile
- Fluent English and Swahili, written and spoken.
- Confident on the phone and comfortable approaching senior people you do not know.
- Resilient, self-motivated and able to work to weekly targets; organised with strong attention to detail.
- Interest in sales, business and international trade.
- Right to work in Kenya; occasional travel across East Africa.
- Desirable: up to two years' experience in outbound sales, telesales, business development or a customer-facing role, and knowledge of the East Africa business landscape.
Required skills
- Knowledge of FX, payments and cross-border payments.
- Desirable: CRM experience such as Salesforce or HubSpot.
What we offer
- Competitive base salary plus a performance bonus linked to qualified meetings.
- Structured onboarding and training in FX, international payments and sales skills.
- Close mentoring from experienced Key Account Directors.
- A merit-based route into a Business Developer role.
