Technical expert – Entrepreneurship and Business Development (Ethical and Sustainable Fashion)

About the role

The Technical Expert will support the WINGS project in Kenya by providing specialised guidance to artisans and designers in the ethical and sustainable fashion sector. The role focuses on helping beneficiaries establish, manage and grow viable micro‑enterprises and self‑employment opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Assess business readiness and development needs of selected participants.
• Assist participants in developing and refining business proposals, simple business plans, budgets, cash‑flow projections and implementation plans.
• Provide individual and group business coaching, mentorship and monthly tutoring.
• Identify business challenges and deliver corrective support or referrals.
• Track enterprise progress and recommend further assistance.
• Support designers in identifying buyers, retailers, brands and other commercial opportunities.
• Facilitate linkages with private‑sector businesses, digital and e‑commerce platforms.
• Guide beneficiaries on the steps and benefits of formalising a business.
• Contribute to fashion shows for visibility, networking and buyer connections.

Required profile

• Proven experience in micro‑enterprise management or business development.
• Knowledge of the ethical and sustainable fashion sector.
• Ability to provide practical business tutoring, mentoring and technical assistance.
• Strong communication skills for working with young designers, artisans and stakeholders.
