Assistant Accountant – 3‑Year Contract

About the role

The Assistant Accountant will support day‑to‑day financial operations and inventory control in a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will ensure accurate bookkeeping, statutory compliance and timely reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Record daily sales, purchases, expenses, bank and petty‑cash transactions in the ERP system.
• Verify Goods Received Notes against purchase orders, reconcile supplier statements and prepare payment vouchers.
• Maintain daily stock records for raw materials, packaging and finished goods; conduct physical reconciliations and support monthly inventory counts.
• Oversee petty‑cash disbursements, prepare weekly bank reconciliations and process batch payments.
• Ensure KRA ETIMS compliance, prepare VAT, WHT and PAYE schedules and assist with tax filing.
• Generate daily sales, stock and expense summaries; support month‑end closing activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or related field.
• CPA Intermediate level (minimum CPA Part 2 / Section 3) completed.
• 3–5 years of hands‑on accounting experience, preferably in FMCG, food manufacturing or agribusiness.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP accounting systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel) and Google Suite skills.
• Knowledge of KRA ETIMS, VAT, WHT and PAYE filing requirements.
