Business Development Manager – Steel Sector (Kenya)

About the role

Drive business development across Kenya, identifying lucrative opportunities in the steel sector, focusing on products such as HRC, CRC, GI and PPGI.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full sales cycle from prospecting and technical consultation to contract negotiation, closing and long‑term account management.
• Analyse Kenyan market dynamics, import regulations, competitor positioning and regional demand to develop localized sales strategies.
• Collaborate with supply‑chain, logistics and finance teams to navigate customs processes and ensure seamless order fulfilment.
• Cultivate strategic partnerships with existing clients while expanding market share to exceed sales targets.
• Represent the company at major Kenyan trade events and industry associations to enhance brand visibility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a related field.
• Fluent English for business communication.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in international steel trading with a proven import/export track record.
• Strong negotiation abilities, commercial acumen and an established network in the Kenyan steel industry.
• Self‑starter able to work independently, comfortable with frequent travel and occasional regional trips.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HRC, CRC, GI and PPGI steel products.
