About the role
The School of Business and Economics at Mount Kenya University seeks an experienced External Examiner to uphold academic standards and ensure the quality of assessments. This role involves independent moderation of examinations, evaluation of programmes, and advisory support on curriculum and quality assurance.
Key responsibilities
- Moderate examination papers and marking schemes before they are administered.
- Review and moderate marked scripts, projects, dissertations, theses and other assessments.
- Evaluate academic standards against national and international benchmarks.
- Provide independent reports on the quality and standards of academic programmes.
- Advise on curriculum development, assessment practices, and academic quality enhancement.
- Attend examination boards and academic meetings when invited.
- Submit annual reports on the conduct and standards of examinations and programmes.
Required profile
- Earned PhD degree in a relevant discipline from a recognised institution.
- At least the rank of Senior Lecturer or equivalent in a recognised university.
- Strong record of teaching, research and academic supervision.
- Experience in examination moderation, curriculum development and quality assurance.
- Registration with the relevant professional body where applicable.
- Not currently employed by Mount Kenya University.
