Resident Medical Officer – Kilifi

About the role

Mephi Health Services is seeking a Resident Medical Officer to deliver high‑quality clinical care in Kilifi County. The role involves managing both outpatient and inpatient services, responding to emergencies, and ensuring continuity of patient care in a fast‑paced hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct outpatient consultations, diagnose conditions and prescribe appropriate treatment.
• Perform daily inpatient ward rounds, review treatment plans and adjust care based on clinical findings.
• Stabilise patients in medical emergencies, provide on‑call support and refer to specialised services when needed.
• Carry out basic surgical procedures within competence and manage pre‑ and post‑operative care.
• Maintain accurate patient records, document consultations, diagnoses and treatments promptly.
• Prepare discharge summaries and ensure all clinical documentation is audit‑ready.
• Collaborate with nursing, laboratory and pharmacy teams to coordinate patient care.
• Provide clinical guidance to junior staff and participate in case discussions.
• Adhere to hospital protocols, regulatory standards and maintain patient confidentiality.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and a valid Kenyan medical licence.
• Minimum two years of clinical experience in a hospital setting.
• Demonstrated ability to perform basic surgical procedures and manage surgical patients.
• Strong diagnostic skills and experience in emergency medicine.
• Willingness to work on‑call shifts and handle high patient volumes.
