Senior Accountant – National Position

About the role

The Senior Accountant will lead the preparation, examination and analysis of accounting records and financial statements across the organisation. This national position supports financial compliance, reporting and strategic decision‑making for a non‑profit environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, examine and analyse accounting records, financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Compile monthly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Maintain financial records in line with accepted policies and procedures.
• Establish, monitor and improve accounting control procedures.
• Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
• Compute taxes, prepare returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Analyse revenues, expenses and financial trends to provide strategic recommendations.
• Assist in managing the asset and inventory register.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting or Finance from a recognised institution.
• Certified Public Accountant (K) – member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as an Accountant or in a comparable role; experience in non‑profit organisations is an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to coordinate multiple teams and maintain relationships with donors, government entities and other stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software, preferably Microsoft Navision.
