Senior Programme Management Assistant (G7 level)

About the role

The Senior Programme Management Assistant provides comprehensive programme and project management support for complex UN environmental initiatives, ensuring effective administration, budgeting, and coordination across multiple stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full programme/project cycle activities, including drafting agreements, budgets, and grant contributions.
• Research, compile, analyse and present data on programmes, track legislative changes and maintain relevant databases.
• Prepare newsletters, reports, briefings and serve as focal point for coordination and monitoring of implementation.
• Oversee budget preparation, monitoring, revisions and financial reporting using UN financial systems.
• Coordinate human‑resource actions, vacancy announcements and staff advice through the Umoja ERP system.
• Administer contracts with external contractors, audit invoices and process payments.

Required profile

• Minimum ten years of experience in programme or project administration (eight years with a university degree).
• Experience with UN staff rules, multilateral environment agreements and global funds is desirable.
• Proficiency in English; French is an asset.

Required skills

• Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system experience, specifically Umoja.
• Data analytics and reporting.
• Budget and financial management.
• Contract administration.
