Solutions & Business Architecture Area Chapter Lead

About the role

The Solutions & Business Architecture Area Chapter Lead provides strategic leadership and governance for solution architecture and business analysis across Safaricom. Reporting to the Head of Data, AI Systems & Architecture, the role drives capability maturity, innovation, and alignment with enterprise strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the solution architecture and business analysis strategy, operating model, and capability roadmap.
• Lead and develop engineering managers across consumer, enterprise, financial services, technology, and business analysis domains.
• Establish architecture principles, standards, and governance frameworks, including review boards and documentation standards.
• Oversee business unit technology roadmaps, application portfolios, and legacy retirement plans.
• Provide quality oversight for business requirements, solution designs, integration designs, and non‑functional requirements.
• Collaborate with enterprise architecture, product management, digital engineering, data & AI, cyber security, and vendor partners to ensure end‑to‑end solution alignment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field; Master’s degree highly desirable.
• 8+ years experience in solution, business or enterprise architecture and 5+ years leading architecture or analysis practices.
• Proven track record delivering enterprise‑wide digital transformation programmes.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• TOGAF® certification, TM Forum ODA certification, CBAP or equivalent.
• Cloud certifications (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) and experience with cloud‑native, API‑led, event‑driven architectures.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines.
• Architecture modelling tools: ArchiMate, UML, BPMN, C4.
• Experience with integration platforms, AI‑assisted architecture, and digital twins.
